“ALWAYS AN EXCELLENT JOB” – Cynthia 2012

November and all the winter months in Santa Fe can be challenging in terms of cleaning.  It is cold and possibly snowy.  We have learned to be flexible at every level of business right down to the detail of where we set up our work station.  Yes we set up a work station at every job.  We have a table with our Green Seal Certified cleaning products, our rags, 4 in 1 tools, caddy’s, our Green Guard Certified floor cleaning products, our screens, our majic sponges, our high-tech vacuums, and so on; I am not expecting you to know what all of these cleaning product are, in fact we are at the point that our method and product combinations are somewhat secret.  We worked for years developing a system / product combination to take away some of the cleaning complication that exists with clients who may want to micro-manage their cleaning crew.  Again, we are flexible and will meet our clients at the threshold of their requests however, before that we are professionals and do know, if nothing else, from experience, what it takes to get a living / work space clean.  I mean really clean.

A Clean November

That sounds to me like a better tag line for November… buy one special get one free.  It’s got a clean ring to it… Anyhow, will be redoing the postcards and seeing if we can get some action on November… it seems that the bigger one off cleaning jobs work great for the company.  The regular cleanings are certainly the cleaning bread and butter but the bigger jobs are a bigger catch.  A bigger take, take down, jack pot.  Ok, being realistic, pragmatic and honest, November is not going to be like Spring.  The tag line though makes cleaning in November seem a more attractive idea, to me… success on specials has been 100%.  Let’s hope this continues.  Of course as all of Sfgc’s followers know, we will keep you posted.  Even during the Giant, Detroit playoff or the Saints getting manned up by Denver and Peyton.

8 Days of the Week

Wow.  Last week felt like 8 days… or the Never Ending Week.  It’s all resolved but the week started with a water line which began leaking behind a refrigerator of the home we were cleaning.  This went undetected for a while, then as the kitchen floor was flooding, we discovered the leak and also discovered that the shut off valve was inoperable.  The client was a departing renter and deferred me by phone to the owner who managed to be entirely unavailable.  Finally my guy came in like a super-hero and totally handled the situation but it wasn’t free so it chunk-chewed into the days take.  This was one of those jobs where everyone was reasonably miserable and unhappy with most of what was happening including the cleaning.  Actually the renter put in the only good word at the end of the 11 hour day and thank goodness for that.  “I think you guys did a great job” he said.  Anyhow, the last time I worked that hard for that little amount of mullah was probably when I pulled weeds for my mom as a kid or when I bagged groceries in Dallas at 17.

Honestly though, no-one on the scene was the least bit concerned about my problems.  Seriously.  I am busting a move to make peoples lives a bit more tolerable but sometimes cleaning really doesn’t pay.

Turning problems into advantages…

After reeling in stress at the loss of a regular client; regular monthly income, I resorted to what has become a standard question: How can I turn this “problem” into an advantage?  Because I have been involved in various businesses over the last 20+ years, I calculated that the best answer was not necessarily the simplest.  It was mid-September, I stared at the calendar for about 1 hour and realized that I needed to focus on October.  I began Cleantoberfest, offering 20% off of any new bookings in October.  The very single first bite I got actually more that made up for the loss that I recently had feared.  Now Sfgc has tripled that potential loss with more October bookings.  Albeit this will not help directly for November or December, it gives me a great cushion to plan for those two months.

Scheduling is the other 1/2 of the job

Especially if you have a crew.  It is a fine line between scheduling according the convenience of the client and scheduling according to being able to provide your best performance.

We begin our jobs at 10am.  It allows time to actually prepare for the jobs which we do for each and every job.  We arrive on scene with all equipment and product.  We are honest, on time and American owned.  We are insured and bonded.  We leave premises a cut above the normal, sad and drudgery oriented clean.

If you really want to sell your property get it really clean.  It really does make a difference.  We use all Green Seal Certified and Green Guard Certified products.  When Santa Fe Green Cleaning began in about 2008, there were few or no other green cleaning companies in Santa Fe.  Now there are about 10 green, honest hard-working cleaning companies.  We still have one edge.  We constantly let ourselves get underbid.  Let the other guys work for little enough that eventually you cannot make a profit.  That’s why your always looking for a new cleaning company.

Cleaning is not quite in high enough regard.  Especially high-end, detailed, caring, fast and efficient cleaning which is what we provide.  There is such thing as quality of life.  Your potential client is subtly attuned to all the dirty details that your last cleaner left behind.
